Well, I’m happy to report that the Chevron Scarf is now 75% finished! I guess it does knit up quickly. (Well, really, anything does when you avoid things like household chores, working out, and all other hobbies in favor of knitting.) I’m looking forward to finishing it so that I can WEAR it… and then make some more socks.
I’m also thrilled that my hand-knit socks aren’t scratchy at all, which was my biggest worry. I wore them for the first time yesterday, with jeans and the knitting-themed sweater that was a gift from my parents for Christmas (it’s a black sweater with embroidered balls of yarn in a basket with knitting needles near the bottom front, and a smaller embroidered design of a ball of yarn near the bottom back — from Christopher & Banks). I felt I was walking the fine line between corny and not corny by donning this ensemble. But I did enjoy showing off my socks and how the purple in them matched my purple turtleneck and the purple accents on the sweater just perfectly. No kidding. I will say, though, that I’m not completely happy with these socks — I knit the second one a little tighter than the first one (not intentionally, of course), and it’s noticeable to me in that the looser one doesn’t stay up as well. I really must learn the 2-at-a-time socks technique — that would probably solve the problem.
