The last charity scarf is done!

- Pattern: Irish Hiking Scarf by Adrian Bizilia (Ravelry Link, Web Link)
- Yarn: Patons Rumor, Hibiscus Heather (discontinued yarn — and I’ll add that it sheds a lot)
- Needles: US 10.5 (6.5mm) straights (Boye, I think)
- Time: Started 11/29/08, finished 12/13/08 (barely, in the wee hours of the morning)
The pattern calls for aran or worsted-weight yarn, but Patons Rumor is considered “super bulky”. So I used the size 10.5 needles the yarn label called for (instead of the US 8/5.0mm size called for in the pattern) and omitted one of the cable/rib repeats going across so it wouldn’t be too wide.
This was a very easy pattern to memorize, and it moves along quickly. At times, though, it felt as if it was taking forever to get done — probably because I really didn’t like working with this yarn. (I struggled to stick to the plan and get this finished rather than working on the Fearless Monkey socks that have been on the needles since August.) The yarn is pretty to look at, but it sheds like crazy and my hands were itching after handling it for hours at a time. Should be fine for a scarf worn over a coat, though (except for the shedding part).
