Yeah, it’s been quite a while since my last knitting blog post. I’ve been blogging much more about hiking. But I’ve still been knitting! (Just not writing about it.) There are a couple new things I can’t reveal just yet, but here are some highlights of 2016 and early 2017. First, let’s catch up with 2016:
Striped Yoke Cardigan – cream is Cascade Eco Wool; yoke stripes and trim on cuffs, hem and neckband is my own handspun from Spunky Eclectic targhee fiber.
Garter Rib Kroy Socks – these are toe up with an afterthought heel.
Koigu Fingerless Mitts that I knit for a photo shoot for work.
Panda Cotton Toe-Up Garter Rib Socks – my own design, done for work. These have a slip-stitch heel. Free pattern download available with purchase of the yarn from Patternworks – while the yarn lasts, it’s discontinued.
Kaffe Socks – the yarn is Regia Design Line Kaffe Fassett Stripe Collection, a leftover sample skein from work several years ago.
Vanilla Arne & Carlos Socks – my own fill-in-the-blank sock pattern, these in plain stockinette. Toe up with a slip-stitch heel.
Lucy’s Hiking Socks – made these for my hiking buddy, Lucy. These are also my fill-in-the-blank socks pattern, plain stockinette with slip-stitch heel.
“Milli Vanilli” Ostrom Cowl. It’s knit in Berroco’s Millefiori yarn, which my assistant and I affectionately refer to as Milli Vanilli at work. This was knit as a shop sample for Patternworks – free pattern from Berroco, with modifications for 2 colors of Millefiori by Andra Asars (roentgen on Ravelry).
Had to make more TV tray socks to replace worn-out ones. These are leftover Miss Babs Yummy Superwash in the Woodland Viola colorway.
Not Quite Kaffe Pastel Socks – another leftover sample skein of Regia Kaffe Fassett Stripe Collection, in uncharacteristically Kaffe pastel colors.
Corn Snake Socks II – finally made myself a pair to match the ones I knit for my BFF in 2008! Exact same color of Trekking XXL, same stitch pattern with a slight modification to add traveling stitches at each side of the front and back.
Purple Army Socks – my fill-in-the-blank socks again, this time in garter rib with a slip-stitch heel. Purple Army is the nickname for the NH Women’s Hiking group on Facebook.
Bobobuffstrom! This is a multifunctional accessory, using the free Ostrom pattern from Berroco. Modified to a smaller circumference and using two colors of Berroco Boboli yarn (now discontinued). Leftover sample skeins from the office, yet again. Fold in half and wear as a cowl, leave it full length and pull up as a hood, Put it on your head, twist and fold over to make a double-thick hat.
For further details on these projects, see my Ravelry page (login required to see the page, but the specific projects below are set for public viewing).
Next, here’s what I’ve completed so far this year (except for the stuff I can’t share yet):
2-Color Mittens using Ty-Dy Wool leftover from a hat.
Millebuffstrom – another multifunctional cowl/hood/hat using the modified Ostrom cowl pattern and 2 colors of Millefiori yarn. Just finished last Friday, but haven’t taken a final photo yet.
YET ANOTHER leftover sample skein of Kaffe Fassett Stripe Collection sock yarn for YET ANOTHER pair of fill-in-the-blank socks in garter rib. Just finished these last Sunday, haven’t taken a finished photo yet.
Further details on these are on my Ravelry page – direct public links to the projects appear below.
